Despite the hype an unusually quiet affair - the drama having unfolded in Cardiff earlier in the day, the match had an uncanny 'Groundhog day' feel about it.

John H's cynical scything down of the boy Cannon who returned from hospital later that day and was seen celebrating in a local hostelry afterwards - an unseemly melee on the pitch [did Arsene & Jose come onto the pitch again ?] - the blues with all the verve but no cutting edge - the normally lethal Ritchie having one of those days when the gallery were at risk from each shot - perhaps the match missed the flair of the talismanic Swedish Lothario; a boy with good looks, good fashion sense, untold riches and the touch of a masseuse from a Turkish Baths - questions remain why the youngsters were fielded instead of the experienced players. No wonder the match petered out.
